We docked early in Honningsvag and I was immediately struck by its similarities to Newfoundland, except that there are no trees at all here.
Instead of flakes for drying salt cod, racks are used to dry fresh cod. The nets are intended to keep the seagulls away,
About 5000 reindeer freely roam the island where Honnigsvag is situated.
The day started out overcast with the temperature about 8C, and then it got progressively worse as we drove about.

I guess when supper time approaches, you just reach up and help yourself to the required number of servings.
We visited a sad little Sami "village" and store.
And then we were off to what is called the most northern point of mainland Europe, the North Cape. By now the weather had closed in, and here is what I saw upon exiting the Visitor Centre:

How are you is literally "how do you have it?"
Alex is in Örebro, Sweden which is a short 24 hour drive away from Honningsvag.
ReplyDeleteNo midnight sun, but I hope you stayed up for the sailaway?
the Sami pictures remind me of the Jan Brett picture books - The Mitten, The Hat, but especially the Christmas Trolls, the Trouble with Trolls, and the Wild Christmas Reindeer.
